Description

Aircraft scientist Prof. Anton Veeblefitzer, impressed with Kurt Tank designs, such as the Focke Wulf 190, etc., including the bi-wing examples, came up with this curious welding together of old and new designs.
The small Nipponese (pun intended) aircraft and fishing rod manufacturing business, Kawadanga Planes and Fish-Tools Inc., quickly bought the patent, and built two prototypes.
Pictured here is the 2nd version, sporting an experimental "cloud" camouflage, and flown by the famous test pilot Fred Smith (see "Super Jack" dev' for Capt. Smith's bio).
Powered with one 2,150hp Itchikitchyku motor, and armed with twin 35mm "Framing Dlagon" fuselage mounted cannon, the machine possessed good speed, in spite of the fact that it was a bi-wing, and equipped with fixed landing gear.
It was put into limited production, named the Ki-114 "Fish Fighter", and it was considered a special honor to fly it.
Unfortunately, forward visibility, especially on the ground, was non-existent! This led to the pilot being forced to fish-tail around the runway (hence the name) in order to see where he was going.
This led to uproariously hilarious scenes during group take-offs.
